AUKAA is going to hold its next annual conference on 01 December 2007. The second year into AUKAA’s launch, the Executive Board has been successful in generating interest among and building on the initiatives from our members. All these initiatives and interest have led to various events and activities, which further strengthened the networking among the UK-educated alumni.

All Moslems of the world celebrated Eid-Al-Fitr (end of Holy month of Ramazan) last week-end. One of the special features of Ramazan is to help the people in need.

In August, AUKAA members traveled to Guba for the weekend. The intention of the retreat was to update the AUKAA members on the activities and events conducted during the last 10 months, and to initiate a discussion on further strategy and performance by AUKAA. |

Situated high up in the Great Caucuses Mountain, Xinaliq is the highest village in Azerbaijan. The villagers speak Xinaliq language and are mostly engaged in animal husbandry. |

On May 31, 2007, AUKAA held a farewell party in honor of the UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Dr. Laurie Bristow. Dr. Laurie Bristow supported the Azerbaijan United Kingdom Alumni Association from the first days of its establishment and functioning. |

On March 29-31, 2007 Gulshan Agayeva, AUKAA's Deputy Chairwoman, participated in Istanbul Network Effect held by the British Council, Turkey to discuss co-existence of business and social development and whether and how they connect.

At the end of March AUKAA organized a trip to Sheki to retroactively celebrate Novruz Bayram. Twelve AUKAA members joined the trip, some with members of their families. The trip proved to be a wonderful experience for all… and a learning experience for some. |

In early March the Board met with Vusal, the head of Azerbaijan Youth Society and the editor of ‘Araz’, the first Azerbaijani newspaper in London, and Simuzar, the principal of Azerbaijani Sunday school. Both were in Baku for the Forum of Azerbaijani and Turkish Diaspora. |

AUKAA hosted its first regional conference that brought together the British Alumni Associations of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. The conference, titled The Ways of Converting Natural Resources into the Human Resourcesa, was attended by over 30 AUKAA members, representatives of other alumni groups in Azerbaijan and guest speakers. |
